How to cook a churrasco steak on the grill

Do you like steaks? Then you are in the right place as I will be sharing a steak recipe with you that will make you the star of the party.

In this recipe, you will obviously need to get skirt steaks preferably the inside skirt steak (you should ask your butcher to cut off the silver skin but leave some fat on the steak which adds extra flavor to the dish) and we will also look at how to make a chimichurri sauce which we will add on top of the steak giving which gives a kick.

As a dessert dish, you can add Bon Bon Cubano which is a molten chocolate lava cake that will go perfectly after the steak. If you want to keep a side dish then you can make yucca fires which will also complement this steak.

What Type Of Meat Is Churrasco?

Churrasco meat comes from a section of the cow called the primal cut. A famous cut is known for its taste although it is slight tough to cut the meat alone is all the satisfaction you need from this beautiful piece of meat.

What is chimichurri sauce?

Chimichurri is a popular sauce throughout the South Americas it is a basic uncooked sauce that is made from parsley, dried oregano, garlic, olive oil, lemon zest, and red wine vinegar. When this sauce is introduced to the steak it elevates the whole meal to a new level. Once you have it you won’t be able to go back to the normal sauce.

How To Make A Churrasco Steak On Grill?

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 8-10 minutes

Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

2 pieces of 1-pound inside skirt steaks

2 teaspoons of salt, divided

1 bunch flat-leaf of parsley, finely chopped

1 teaspoon of dried oregano

3 large garlic cloves, finely minced

Zest of one lemon

½ cup of extra-virgin olive oil

3 tablespoons of red wine vinegar

Step #1

Let us make the chimichurri sauce first. Take a large bowl and mix the following item, chopped parsley, dried oregano, garlic, lemon zest, and salt to taste. 

Step #2

Add the red wine vinegar and olive oil and then stir to combine all this to make the zesty chimichurri. You have to let the sauce rest for at least 15 – 20 minutes that is why you have to make it before you put the meat on the grill.

Step #3

Set your grill to medium-high as you start to work on the steak. When the grill is heating up, pat down the steaks with a paper towel to make them dry. Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.

Step #4

Put the steak on the heated grill for 2 to 3 minutes on each side and then remove it from the grill.


Step #5

Wait! Don’t start cutting just yet. You need to let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes. You can wrap it up with a foil and let it rest or simply let it rest.

Step #6

After letting the steak rest for 10 minutes place it on the cutting board and start cutting at a 45-degree angle.

You are ready to serve your churrasco, use a serving plate and put the chimichurri sauce on top of it. Don’t be stingy with the sauce pour generously and you will not regret it.

How to cook churrasco in the oven?

Keeping the recipe the same as above, add your steak to a rimmed baking sheet and put it inside the oven. Put the steak on the middle rack and cook for 5 to 6 minutes. Oh yeah preheat the oven to 450 degrees and then place the steak inside. Cook one side for 5 minutes then flip it over and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

How to marinade churrasco?

If you have read this article then you will note that I have not used any marination. You can marinate your steak with onions, garlic, parsley, and tangy orange zest and leave it for 20 minutes. After the process of grilling is the same and if you follow the steps above you will be able to have delicious churrasco at your home.
